Powertrain

The main area upgraded is the engine and gearbox, which is replaced with a GM 1.8 litre fuel injected engine. This will improve the performance and driveability of the Morgan 4/4 and allow the car to keep up with current and future traffic flows. The compact 1800cc engine is an evolution of the legendry "red top" 16valve unit enhanced with variable valve timing and a power output of circa 175bhp. This is married to a compact, aluminium, five speed gearbox. Both items are used in UK spec Vauxhalls, so spare parts and servicing will be easy and economical.

Cooling

Fitting a more efficient cooling system to a Morgan is something we are very used to doing. A larger capacity aluminium radiator with a high power electric fan and an expansion tank will complete the Cooling System Upgrade.

Brakes

With the increase in power and today's busy roads we believe it would be irresponsible to carry out such a conversion without making some improvements to the braking. The basic package will include a four-pot caliper conversion for the front. Of course other options are available such as servo assistance and vented discs; however we are confident that, providing the rest of the braking system is in good order, you will be delighted with the more progressive feel and much better stopping power of the basic package.
